Based on the island of Euboea in Greece, the Institute of Paediatric Virology is a non-profit scientific institution, under the Hellenic Law, committed to the establishment and development of the new scientific field of Paediatric Virology.

 

The main aims of the Institute of Paediatric Virology are:

a. to provide an educational e-platform on paediatric viral infections aiming to continuing medical education of medical students, paediatric and neonatal trainees, postgraduate students, virologists, health professionals and parents,

b. to facilitate scientific discussion between virologists and paediatric health professionals determining the current and future priorities in clinic practice and research in the field of Paediatric Virology,

c. to evaluate Paediatric Virology as a new paediatric subspecialty’s candidate in future medicine and

d. to develop an international network of experts on neonatal and paediatric infectious diseases promoting children’s health towards viral infections.

 

The Institute of Paediatric Virology is supported by the Department of Clinical Virology at the University of Crete School of Medicine and the First Department of Paediatrics at the University of Athens School of Medicine and its function is under the auspices of the World Academy of Sciences (WAS).
